The Theme of World AIDS Campaign 2011 is “Getting to Zero” and UNAIDS Egypt commemorated World AIDS Day 2011 with the premiere of the internationally acclaimed movie “Asmaa”, based on a real life character. The event took place on December 6^th at the Intercontinental City Stars and it anticipated of one day the movie national release to movie theaters. “Asmaa”  is the story of an HIV positive female who is fighting to claim her rights and reject social injustice. The event consisted in the movie projection followed by a panel discussion with the movie cast and crew. The panel was attended by Ms. Hind Sabry (Asmaa lead actress), Mr. Maged Kodwany (Asmaa lead actor); Actors Hany Adel and Ahmed Kamal; the script writer and director, Mr. Amr Salama; New Century production and Film Clinic and Dr. Wessam El Beih, UNAIDS Country Coordinator. The event was attended by a group of 250 selected invitees including a group of 40 national and international media representatives. Asmaa premiere was a groundbreaking event in Egypt and it was met by general appreciation.
